Let’s get your words ready for the world

Writing a non-fiction book is no small feat. You’ve spent months (maybe years) shaping your ideas, pouring research onto the page and finding your voice.

Now it’s time to make sure your manuscript says exactly what you mean — clearly, confidently and without the distractions of typos or clunky sentences. That’s where I come in.

I’m a professional editor who helps non-fiction authors polish their work so it’s ready for readers, agents or publishers.

Whether you’ve written a business book, a memoir or something that sits between genres, I’ll bring a careful eye to your writing while respecting your unique style and message.

Why Editing Matters

Even the sharpest thinkers and best writers benefit from a second set of eyes. When you’re this close to your manuscript, it’s easy to miss small errors, repeated phrases or moments where your meaning gets lost.

An editor’s job isn’t just about fixing grammar; it’s about making sure your ideas shine without anything getting in the way.

A strong edit can:

  • Smooth out awkward sentences so your writing flows.

  • Catch distracting typos and inconsistencies.

  • Tighten sections that wander, so readers stay engaged.

  • Help you build trust with your audience through clear, professional prose.

In other words, good editing helps your book do its job: connect with readers.

Hi, I’m Sarah

The main thing you should know about me is that I absolutely love reading and writing non-fiction — and of course editing other people’s writing.

I write journalistic articles and a Substack publication, and I read a lot of non-fiction across a variety of different topics.

After completing a BA and MA in Literature, I worked in Higher Education administration during which time I also freelanced as a proofreader for students and academics. I proofread essays, dissertations, PhD theses, research papers and journal articles.

Since becoming self-employed six years ago, I’ve undertaken training in editing with the Publishing Training Centre, and I continuously undertake editing training to keep my skills relevant (and useful to authors).

I specialise in editing non-fiction as that’s what I know and love.

I also offer editing services for businesses to polish up online content and business documents.

  • Copy-editing: A detailed line-by-line review that looks at grammar, clarity, word choice, consistency and flow.

  • Proofreading: A final polish that catches lingering typos, formatting issues and small errors before you publish or submit your work.

For businesses

I offer a variety of business editing services, including:

  • Proof-editing online content and business documents

  • Repurposing and refreshing online content

  • Editing AI-generated content
