LET'S CHAT

Hey, I’m Sarah

I’m a freelance editor based in Essex, UK. I edit non-fiction manuscripts for authors through copy-editing and proofreading services.

My passion is helping authors ensure their work is perfectly polished before it’s submitted to a literary agent or publisher, or before you start the self-publishing process.

I also write my own non-fiction in the form of journalistic articles and a Substack publication. I’ve also freelanced as a copywriter and content writer previously, before specialising in editing.

Helping businesses achieve their goals through sharing high-quality, professional content is another of my passions, so I also edit online content and business documents for businesses.

Prior to starting my business I had a ten-year career in Higher Education operations and administration from which I gained many beneficial skills that help me in my work for clients today.

The variety and breadth of my skills, knowledge and experience helps me build strong relationships with my clients, and I’ve been working with many of them for several years.

What you get when you work with me

  • I only edit non-fiction as that’s what I have the most experience in and love reading and writing myself.

I know how your manuscript or content needs to look before it’s submitted or shared, and what the outcome of that will be for you as a professional author or business owner.

I’m committed to my own professional development and regularly update my editing and general business skills and abilities.

I have trained in editing with the Publishing Training Centre, and also have an Award in Digital Marketing from the Institute of Data and Marketing, as well as BA and MA in Literature.

I continuously undertake further training to keep my skills fresh and best serve my lovely clients.

  • I spend a lot of time at the start of our time together getting to know you and your writing or business, and as well as your short and long-term goals.

This in-depth research is key to me really understanding what you need any work I do for you to achieve as part of your bigger picture.

I'll do this before starting any work to make sure we're both on the same page to avoid any wasted time.

  • I’m not just an editor — I’m also a strategist.

I'm always happy to chat strategy and contribute my ideas on marketing your book or business, and growing your audience.

I hope you’ll come to respect my viewpoint and suggestions once I’ve proved my worth.

  • I’ll keep you updated throughout our time together, letting you know what’s going on and when you can expect tasks to be completed.

Communication and collaboration is where the magic happens!

You can also rest assured I’ll deliver what I say I will, when I say I will.

You’re trusting me with something you've worked so hard to create, and I’ll honour that trust by keeping my promises.
